Ivancov: If you want to hear something bad from me about the SDA, you won't hear it

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) member states met today in Sarajevo at the request of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH, Petar Ivancov.

"If you want to hear something bad from me about the SDA, you won't get it. My attitude is respect for all political parties and leaders. I will speak, only because I convened this session today," Ivancov told reporters in Sarajevo after the meeting of PIC ambassadors, which Ivancov convened after the SDA announced it would file an appeal with the Constitutional Court of BiH to review the name of Republika Srpska.

Ivancov, although he convened the session, said he had separated his opinion from that of his other PIC colleagues.

"Russia did not agree with the joint statement of the PIC, because it is general. Everyone is to blame and no one is to blame," said the Russian ambassador.

He told reporters that the SDA's initiative causes instability, reduces mutual trust among peoples, and halts the formation of government at all levels. However, he did not want to answer reporters' questions as to why he did not convene a PIC session earlier when Milorad Dodik threatened the secession of Republika Srpska.

"The SDA's request is not in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH. In this situation, there was a reason why we are here. All my colleagues understood the seriousness. We did not agree on a joint statement. It is better to ask them about their position than me. I could not join the text you will receive," Ivancov added.

He said that "this text does not focus on the problem that caused the newly created situation.".

"It talks about the mistakes of all political actors in BiH. As a result, everyone is to blame and perhaps no one is to blame. My goal is not to chastise anyone. I am interested in the stability of BiH, but what happened on Thursday disrupted the course of negotiations, that is the message I need to send," Ivancov added, Patria reports.
