Ivan Zelenika (HDZ) new Chairman of the Mostar City Council, Marić and Milivojević deputies

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Follow the live session of the Mostar City Council on the Patria News Agency website. 

17:15 The Coalition for Mostar nominated Zlatko Guzin for Mayor of Mostar, while Arman Zalihić, on behalf of the BH Bloc, nominated Irma Baralija. The Croat Club proposed Mario Kordić. This was followed by a reaction from HRS, who stated that Kordić is the candidate of HDZ, not HRS.

A short break was then taken.

17:00 The candidacy of Arman Zalihić for Chairman of the City Council was rejected because, as explained, the Statute does not allow it. The Bosniak Club proposed Salem Marić for the leadership of the City Council. The Croat Club proposed Ivan Zelenika, and the Serb Club proposed Velibor Milivojević.

Zelenika received 16 votes, Marić 10, and Milivojević two, while the BH Bloc and the First Mostar Party abstained.

16:35 Miroslav Grubišić was elected President of the Croat Club in the Mostar City Council.

Arman Zalihić (SDP) proposed himself for the position of Chairman of the City Council, with the wish that this be entered into the Minutes. "I want this to be entered into the Minutes, so that if these amendments to the Statute do not happen, I can appeal to the Constitutional Court," he stated.

15:45 After a break and consultations regarding the presence of councilor Boška Ćavar of Our Party at the session, while she is in isolation due to coronavirus infection. A three-member commission was formed to go to Ćavar and obtain her signed statement accepting the mandate. At the same time, it is proposed for this session that Ćavar participate online. The conclusion was adopted unanimously. Ćavar took the solemn oath in writing. 

14:30 After a break, the proposed presidents of the ethnic clubs were elected. For the President of the Bosniak Club, Zlatko Guzin was unanimously proposed within the club. During the election of the President of the Croat Club, a problem arose because Boška Ćavar, a councilor from Our Party, could not attend the session due to coronavirus infection. The proposal of the Serb Club for the President of the Club is Velibor Milivojević. 

To resolve the dilemmas regarding the Croat Club and to enable voting for Boška Ćavar, who is in quarantine due to coronavirus, a new break was called for consultations.

The constitutive session of the new City Council with 35 newly elected councilors is being held in the Mostar City Hall. Boška Ćavar is not attending the session because she is infected with coronavirus and is undergoing treatment. One of the agenda items is the election of the mayor. 

So far, the candidates are Irma Baralija from Our Party, Mario Kordić from HDZ BiH, and Zlatko Guzin from the Coalition for Mostar. 

The leadership of the City Council is being elected.

The new convocation of the City Council includes 13 councilors from HDZ BiH, 11 councilors from the Coalition for Mostar (SDA, SBB, DF, SBIH, BPS), 6 councilors from the BH Bloc (SDP BiH, Our Party), 3 councilors from the Croatian Republican Party, and 1 councilor each from the First Mostar Party and the list "Stay here – Together for our Mostar".

The ethnic clubs of Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs have also been elected.
