In front of FUP at 2:00 PM: Journalists' protest gathering in Sarajevo

An informal group of journalists will gather in front of the FUP building to express dissatisfaction over recent threats by police officers to the Radio Free Europe team in Sarajevo.

A symbolic protest gathering of journalists is announced for today, September 29, at 2:00 PM in front of the Federal Police Administration building in Sarajevo, due to the poor treatment of journalists and last week's rude and unprofessional conduct towards the Radio Free Europe team, when they were threatened with "batons" and prevented from filming.

The informal group of journalists states that it is important for as many colleagues as possible to attend the gathering today because attacks on journalists concern all of us.

They believe it is important to forget about the competition and rivalry that exists among journalists and newsrooms for at least one day. They call on journalists to unite and fight for their rights and better working conditions in the field. What happened to the colleagues from Free Europe can happen to anyone, and in a much worse form.

"We must be united because they harass us, threaten us, spit on us, beat us, and make us freeze for hours for some meaningless statement."
