Cadets of the Armed Forces of BiH Farewelled to Academies Abroad

The Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo ceremonially farewelled female and male cadets of the Armed Forces of BiH to military academies abroad, reports the Patria agency.

This year, future officers of the AF BiH are being sent to military educational institutions in Austria, Greece, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and the United Kingdom. The ceremonial farewell of the cadets was attended by the Minister of Defense of BiH Marina Pendeš and relevant representatives of the Ministry of Defense and AF BiH, representatives of the embassies of the countries where the cadets are going, as well as their families.

- By sending cadets around the world, we show how we respect the traditions of diversity, with the aim of strengthening unity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will continue to work dedicatedly to increase the number of positions for training young people at partner military academies, which, along with the recruitment of officers from civilian life and the career advancement process, will lead to the creation of a sustainable and quality human resource management system in the Armed Forces of BiH. Because people are our most valuable resource - said Minister Pendeš.

In the 2017/2018 school year, the Ministry of Defense of BiH is sending 60 cadets to military educational institutions abroad. Eight cadets are going to the Greek Army Academy in Athens and the Officers' Academy in Thessaloniki; three cadets to the Croatian Military Academy in Zagreb; five cadets to the Macedonian Army Academy in Skopje; 11 cadets were already sent on August 13, 2017, to the Serbian Army Academy and the Air Force Academy in Belgrade; 21 cadets are going to the Turkish Army Academy in Ankara and the Air Force Academy in Istanbul; two cadets to the British Royal Air Force Academy Cranwell, and for the first time this year, 10 cadets are being sent to the military academy in Austria.

Upon arrival at the academies, the cadets will join colleagues who were sent in previous years. The Ministry of Defense of BiH will thus have a total of 139 cadets of the AF BiH studying in these seven countries and the USA.

Upon completion of their education, the AF BiH will receive highly educated and quality officers, who will in the future represent the backbone of the officer corps of the AF BiH.
