Medication Subsidies to Be Paid by End of October

As part of ongoing care for the elderly, especially those who are socially vulnerable, the Centar Municipality has again this year allocated 35,000 KM from its budget to the Centar Sarajevo Pensioners' Association for assistance in purchasing medications not on the essential list, as well as for spa treatment for Association members, it was announced from the Centar Municipality, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Through representatives from 15 local organizations of the Centar Pensioners' Association, the payment of subsidies for medication procurement was carried out in June, totaling 15,000 KM, with 375 pensioners receiving this type of assistance. The continuation of this project, i.e., the payment of an additional 10,000 KM, was made in September 2014 for 250 socially vulnerable pensioners from the Centar municipality area. The remaining funds will be paid by the end of October.

The amount of the individual subsidy is 40 KM. Representatives of the Centar Pensioners' Association visit sick and frail pensioners and hand them these funds. Beneficiaries of this type of assistance are required, along with their signature, to present pharmacy receipts, a pension check, and an ID card. In cooperation with the secretaries of local communities in the Centar Municipality, the decision of the Executive Board of the Centar Pensioners' Association on the payment of these subsidies is posted on the notice boards of local communities.

In addition to subsidizing the procurement of medications not on the essential list, out of the 35,000 KM received by the Centar Pensioners' Association, 5,000 KM was spent on the health protection project for Association members - a ten-day spa treatment at 'Reumal' in Fojnica, which was used by 11 pensioners.
