(Patria) - Following a social media post by former Reis-ul-ulema Mustafa ef. Cerić, discussing the formation of a "Bosnian Orthodox Church", numerous reactions from the BiH public and religious circles followed.
On this occasion, MINA Agency requested the stance of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on this topic.
"For the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is unacceptable to question the functioning, organization, or canonical basis of traditional churches and religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Traditional religious communities and churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina have their autonomy, historical, and all other particularities that must be respected.
For the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, any interference in the work of churches and religious communities, as well as their internal organization, is unacceptable.
Such discussions are not constructive, nor do they develop or encourage mutual respect, which we so desperately need at this moment," reads the response from the Public Relations Office of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community in BiH.
