Islamic Community in BiH marked the Day of White Ribbons: We recall the day that segregation and ethnic cleansing of Bosniaks began

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina today marked May 31, the Day of White Ribbons, by displaying white cloth on the Administrative Building of the Riyaset in Sarajevo.

The Day of White Ribbons is a day that marks and recalls the segregation and the beginning of the campaign of ethnic cleansing and suffering of Bosniaks from Prijedor.

On this day in 1992, Bosnian Serb authorities ordered the non-Serb population in the Prijedor and Kozarac area to wear white ribbons around their arms, and to hang white sheets on their houses and apartment windows.

After that, camps were established in Prijedor through which 30,000 Bosniaks and Croats passed. More than 3,000 of them were killed, according to the statement.
