Islamic Community of BiH collected 100,000 KM from diaspora for flooded areas

The Islamic Community in BiH is still helping citizens from flooded areas across BiH, who lost their roofs during the devastating floods in May.

Ismail ef. Smailović, military mufti and coordinator of the Main Operational Headquarters of the Islamic Community for coordinating aid to affected areas, told the Patria news agency that the IC has so far collected about 100,000 KM for citizens from flooded areas, only from members of the diaspora. The money was used to procure the most necessary aid.

- The faithful population has shown a high degree of solidarity towards affected fellow citizens. The aid coming from them is continuous, and it is still arriving - said ef. Smailović.

During the floods and landslides that hit BiH last month, several facilities of the Islamic Community were destroyed, including some mosques and prayer rooms that were completely destroyed.

- By the month of Ramadan, we will try to make all mosques and prayer rooms functional so that the faithful can perform prayers without hindrance during this holy month - said Smailović for Patria.
