ISLAMABAD Turković meets with Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Bisera Turković, today, on 18 December 2021, met in Islamabad with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

During the meeting, discussions were held on bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, strengthening trade exchange and economic cooperation, as well as visa liberalization for holders of diplomatic and official passports of BiH citizens. The importance of continuing the implementation of signed agreements in various fields was emphasized, which will further enhance relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan. The ministers agreed that it is important to hold bilateral consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs in the coming period and intensify cooperation.

The ministers also exchanged views on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan. Minister Turković informed her colleague about the situation in BiH and the region, the blockades of state institutions, and the recent conclusions of the National Assembly of the entity Republika Srpska, the implementation of which could jeopardize peace in our country and the region.

Minister Qureshi stated that Pakistan, as during the war, gives full support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized that our country can always count on the support and assistance of friendly Pakistan.
The ministers also discussed the dire situation in Afghanistan, which will be addressed tomorrow at the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Minister Qureshi informed the minister about the humanitarian crisis in that country and the consequences that may ensue. The importance of helping the Afghan people, who are currently largely dependent on international aid, was emphasized.

Minister Turković will attend the 17th extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers tomorrow, and the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was welcomed today by Pakistani Minister of State for Defence Production, Zobaida Jalal.
During her stay in Islamabad, Minister Turković will also speak with other foreign ministers of OIC member states and inform them about the current situation in BiH.
