PATIENT EXPERIENCES: What to take preventively, and what when you are being treated for coronavirus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The number of infected in Sarajevo Canton is growing day by day. Instead of adequate advice from the Crisis Staff of the Sarajevo Canton on how to strengthen our immunity and whether we can already act preventively and take certain medications or supplements along with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, we receive appeals to be responsible and that they are afraid of what will happen in the next 14 days. Fear gives us nothing but additional stress, which we have already been experiencing for five months, both at home and outside. 

Today's death of Almer Hašimbegović (51) affected numerous Sarajevans and those who knew him. He died from the consequences of the coronavirus at Podhrastovi after being previously placed on a ventilator. 

In just a few TV appearances by several infectious disease specialists and pulmonologists, we were able to hear advice to enrich our diet with selenium and zinc, vitamins C and D, plenty of fluids, and to rinse the mouth and nose with warm salt water. 

Even after your coronavirus infection is officially confirmed, you do not receive adequate advice on the therapy to be applied. Some of those who have fought off the coronavirus, even with severe symptoms, have decided to share their experiences of what medications they took. Everything they used was in agreement with doctors they knew privately, who gave them advice on what to use in therapy.

One of them spoke out today on his Facebook profile, explaining the symptoms, stages of infection, testing methods, and everything they used both preventively and during the fight against the virus. With the permission of Ejub Kučuk, owner of the marketing agency MITA and a chain of bakeries, we are sharing part of his post about what he uses as therapy. Both he and his wife are infected and are in isolation. 

“What can save you:
- Do not deny the virus
- First suspect yourself and your household, then everyone else
- If you cough even a little or have a mild fever, it is better to behave as if you have COVID-19 than not. Do not forget, I had mild symptoms for 2 days, then I felt great for 5 days, and then the cough and bone pain returned. From that, you are only a step away from developing pneumonia, which can turn into a comatose state within a day.
- If anyone in your vicinity is suspicious, do not meet or greet them, because they are not suspicious without reason.
- Do not socialize with people who do not adhere to and respect protective measures
- Wear masks, wash and boil them every day, dispose of single-use ones
- As soon as you come home, change your clothes and sterilize your mobile phone + everything you use both at home and outside
- Buy the medications from the photo, do not wait for the state to cure you because it may be too late.
If I had known all this and had the therapy, perhaps my godfather would be alive today. It is too late for him, but maybe someone else will survive because of what is written, so here is the therapy once more:
WHEN YOU SUSPECT CORONA (regardless of whether you have symptoms):
Vitamin C 3 g (3 tablets of 1000 mg daily)
Selenium 2x100 mg (2 tablets daily)
Zinc 2x20 mg (2 tablets daily)
Vitamin D 10,000 units (2 tablets daily)
Aspirin (1 tablet daily)
Paracetamol – as needed for pain and fever
Fluids – plenty of teas with vitamin C, juices, water, soups, because the virus needs to be washed from the throat into the stomach, where stomach acid destroys it.
Get your tests done 2 to 3 days later because it takes time for antibodies to develop
IF YOU GET SICK WITH COVID-19:
Sumamed – one tablet daily for 6 days
Arechin – 2x1 tablet daily for ten days
Clexane – one injection daily for ten days.
Vitamin C 3 g (3 tablets of 1000 mg daily)
Selenium 2x100 mg (2 tablets daily)
Zinc 2x20 mg (2 tablets daily)
Vitamin D 10,000 units (2 tablets daily)
Paracetamol – as needed for pain and fever
Fluids – plenty of teas with vitamin C, juices, water, soups, because the virus needs to be washed from the throat into the stomach, where stomach acid destroys it
Notes:
- for some, Paracetamol does not help with headaches, so they used Caffetin (contains Paracetamol)
- under no circumstances take medications containing ibuprofen
- if you do not have to, do not go anywhere for the next 15 days
