ISIL threatens to kill two Japanese, demands $200 million ransom

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has threatened to kill two Japanese hostages and demanded a $200 million ransom from the Japanese government, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In a video posted online, whose authenticity has not been immediately confirmed, the group that controls large parts of territory in Iraq and Syria threatens to "kill both hostages within the next 72 hours" if they are not given the money.

The footage also shows two men in orange suits, whom the group identified as Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto Jogo.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is currently visiting Jerusalem.

The Japanese government stated on Tuesday that it "will not bow to terrorism," responding to the ISIL threat.
