(Patria) - Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ramo Isak commented on the announcements that several police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia will seasonally perform official duties on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e., that they will assist police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS.
“I call on politicians and public officials not to unnecessarily raise tensions and not to create a sense of fear among the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through irresponsible behavior, politicking, and the tendency to gain cheap political points at all costs in an election year, fear is unnecessarily instilled among citizens.
All politicians, with a very simple internet search, can find data on inter-police cooperation between the ministries of internal affairs of the region. As an example, I will mention that police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo have been on the territory of the Republic of Croatia on several occasions, where they provided assistance to police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia in performing official duties and tasks during the tourist season.
Also, as an example of inter-police cooperation, I will mention the fact that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia has police officers deployed in the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro during the tourist season, and that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS will deploy its police officers to the territory of the Republic of Serbia during the tourist season.
Inter-police cooperation during tourist seasons, as well as in all other forms of inter-police cooperation, is carried out in accordance with national legislation and signed agreements,” Isak stated.
He said that it is irresponsible and shameful to present inter-police cooperation as an attempt at aggression and to create an image that six police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, who will be deployed as assistance during the tourist season in Banja Luka, Foča, and Trebinje, represent a national threat to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Once again, I call on politicians not to raise tensions and not to scare the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The security system is not a field on which you should conduct election campaigns.
I responsibly assure the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina that they have no reason to fear and that there will be no disruption of security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially not aggression,” Isak stated.
