Isak and Munjić: Entities and cantons will never control the state border, no transfer of competencies

(Patria) - Federal Minister of Interior Ramo Isak and Director of the Federal Police Administration Vahidin Munjić stated that the Federal Ministry of Interior, the Federal Police Administration, as well as the ministers in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will never agree to any removal of competencies from the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The state border is exclusively under the jurisdiction of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and not of administrative units, i.e., entities and cantons that are part of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Border control and crossing of the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina are directly under the jurisdiction of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Federal Ministry of Interior is in constant contact with representatives of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will never agree to border control being placed, in any way, under the jurisdiction of entities or cantons, or to the derogation of the competencies of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We particularly emphasize the importance of strengthening the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina because, according to information available to us from the state level of government, the previous convocation of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina left the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina devastated. The current convocation of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has focused on strengthening the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in terms of human resources and material-technical equipment, in order to create conditions for the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina to deal with modern security challenges on its own, without the participation of lower levels of government," the statement from the FMUP and FUP reads.

Federal Minister of Interior Ramo Isak and Director of the Federal Police Administration Vahidin Munjić call on the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, not to engage in an attempt to transfer competencies from state institutions to entities and cantons, because this will be opposed first by members of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then by the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Federal Police Administration.
