Isak: FUP Director Should Not Be a Croat

(Patria) - The set of laws on internal affairs of the FBiH was withdrawn from the parliamentary procedure because the Commission pointed out certain shortcomings. They believed that certain changes to the entire law should be made, stated the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ramo Isak for BHRT.

Isak stated that he received information from the Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić that the law should be withdrawn from the procedure, but that the problem is not only in the part concerning the election of the Director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP).

- I received information that there is dissatisfaction among all deputies, which is why that Commission was formed. The problem here is not amending that part of the law, certain deputies believe that the entire law should be changed. They just wanted to expand those amendments a bit - Isak explained.

When asked if Nikšić asked for the law to be withdrawn because the leader of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović asked him to do so, in order to appoint his candidate to the position of FUP Director, Isak stated that he has no information that the FMUP was discussed at the meeting between Nikšić and Čović.

- HDZ, nor anyone else, cannot ask anything from me. Nikšić has never interfered in the work of any minister. No political option will get the position of FUP Director, only a professional. The FUP Director must not be a member of any political option; the law has already specified that - Isak emphasized.

He stressed that he opposes the proposal that a candidate for FUP Director must have the rank of chief inspector for one year, instead of the current three.

- I only proposed that a person who meets the conditions for retirement can remain director until the end of their term - said Isak, adding that he believes that a Croat should not be at the head of the FUP, meaning that it is not a prerequisite for candidates.

He also spoke about the order of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH to remove the promotional spot from YouTube, saying that it is not true that it is a premature election campaign.

- Everything was done in accordance with the law; it is not true that it is a premature campaign. There is no premature campaign there - Isak believes.

According to him, the spot was removed from the internet, although it now appears on YouTube that it was published a few months ago.

- We removed the spot at the moment we were informed that we should. It is not true that it was not removed. On YouTube, you have the option to hide a video, so it's not visible, and then bring it back - said Isak.

He also commented on the recent remarks about the Minister of Security of BiH Nenad Nešić, which many considered mockery.

- Leave Nešić alone, Nešić is a good guy, once he settles in a bit, everything will be fine... Nešić and I communicate all the time. I did not mock him - claimed Isak.

He did not want to elaborate on the arrest of the former director of Autoceste FBiH Elmedin Voloder and other individuals today, because, as he says, he does not want to jeopardize the proceedings.

- This is just the beginning of the actions that need to happen in the territory of FBiH. FUP has been collecting evidence since June and everything that was necessary for this phase to occur, and I hope that the Prosecutor's Office will go to court with a proposal for detention - concluded Isak.
