Inzko on Mostar: The obligation will not simply disappear, politicians must fulfill it

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - High Representative Valentin Inzko met today in Sarajevo with members of the “Congress Group Dedicated to the Problem of Mostar” of the Congress of the Council of Europe for Local and Regional Authorities. 

At this meeting, the High Representative briefed the delegation on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly regarding Mostar.

- I welcome the recent series of talks among local party representatives in Mostar. This confirms that, despite much time having been lost, domestic dialogue and political compromise can still yield results - said the High Representative.

The High Representative emphasized how important it is to resolve the issue of Mostar as soon as possible, in a way that the solution is in line with the Court's decision, legally valid, and does not divide the city. He also added that “the citizens of Mostar have been deprived of the right to vote for a long time, and the political parties responsible for implementing the 2010 decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina bear responsibility for this situation. This obligation will not simply disappear; politicians must fulfill it.”
