Inzko announced continuation of talks on Election Law amendments

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Another meeting of leaders with representatives of the Venice Commission will be held on Thursday, June 7, in an attempt to find a solution regarding amendments to the Election Law, concerning the filling of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, announced High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko after the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) Steering Board session.

- Colleagues from the US Embassy and the EU Delegation are mediating negotiations on amendments to the Election Law in accordance with the Constitutional Court's decision. It is necessary to urgently resolve this issue in the BiH Parliament so that further reforms can be carried out. There is a concern that the issue of implementing election results and forming government will take a very long time if there is no electoral reform.

He stated that members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) attended today's PIC Steering Board session to hear from them about the election process and what steps will be taken to prevent electoral fraud.

Inzko also said that the leaders' positions have been brought closer, and stated that the coming weeks should be used to find a solution.
