Inzko: Entities do not have the right to secession

Reacting to factually incorrect statements conveyed in the media, High Representative Valentin Inzko today once again underlined that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an internationally recognized state whose sovereignty and integrity are guaranteed by international law and the Dayton Peace Agreement, Patria reports. 

„Entities do not have the right to secession from Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Dayton Agreement. The constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the existence of entities, can only be changed in accordance with the amendment procedure defined by the Constitution of BiH“, said the High Representative.

The High Representative emphasized that politicians in BiH must stop the practice of threatening unilateral changes to the country's constitutional structure, and must fully respect the Dayton Agreement.

The international community retains the necessary instruments to suppress destructive tendencies and will not allow attempts to undermine the Dayton Peace Agreement.
