Inzko Congratulates Alma Zadić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - High Representative Valentin Inzko today sent congratulations to Alma Zadić on her appointment as Minister of Justice in the Government of the Republic of Austria, expressing a desire for the continuation and intensification of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria in the field of judiciary.

"After Baroness Arminka Helić in the British House of Lords and former Swedish Minister of Education Aida Hadžialić, this is yet another talented and successful young person originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina who, through dedicated work and enormous energy, has managed to achieve an exceptional career abroad. As a refugee, Alma Zadić completed primary school, high school, and law studies with a master's and doctorate in Vienna. She furthered her studies at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Piacenza and at the renowned Columbia University in New York. She worked in numerous international institutions, including the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and as a lawyer at a prestigious international law firm. Since 2013, Zadić has been a member of the Global Shapers Community, an international organization of young people who take responsibility for the fate of the planet. I extend my sincerest congratulations and wishes for a successful term to her personally. At the same time, this is a message to the political elites in Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage more energetically in improving the situation in BiH so that young people do not have to go abroad, and so that they can develop and realize their potential at home, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the benefit of its citizens," said High Representative Inzko, the OHR announced.

Inzko also added that we might ask ourselves whether Alma Zadić would ever have been appointed to the position of Minister of Justice at the state, entity, or cantonal level had she remained in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
