INTERVIEW FOR NOVOSTI Đurđica Čilić: Where Čović is a god, I want to be nothing

ZAGREB, (Patria) - The Senate of the University of Zagreb awarded an honorary doctorate in mid-May to the President of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović. During the vote, 12 Senate members abstained, and five were against, out of a total of 70 members of that body.

Professor Đurđica Čilić from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was the first to oppose Čović receiving an honorary doctorate.

"Where Čović is a god, I want to be nothing," says Professor Čilić in an interview for the latest issue of "Novosti", which went on sale on Friday.

In the interview with journalist Goran Borković, the professor, who teaches at the Department of West Slavic Languages and Literature, explains why she opposed the President of HDZ BiH receiving an honorary doctorate from the largest Croatian university, discusses the reactions that followed her statement, and what is wrong with Dragan Čović.

"Neither numerous criminal charges, nor the slave-like treatment of Bosniak prisoners in the Croat-Bosniak conflict, the long-term sad exodus of Central Bosnian Croats, nor the reign of terror he imposes within his own party, nor the treatment of the Croatian people and the third entity as tokens in political trades, nor his long-standing close cooperation with Milorad Dodik..., nor the mysterious circumstances of his family's enrichment... not only have not harmed Čović, but he has even received recognition from the largest Croatian university," says Čilić, as reported by the Patria agency.
