Interpol issues arrest warrant for Milorad Krunić

(Patria) - Interpol has issued an arrest warrant for Milorad Krunić, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, whom the State Prosecutor's Office indictment accuses of crimes against humanity committed in the area of Sanski Most in 1992.

A hearing was planned at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of August 2020, where Krunić was supposed to enter his plea, but neither the accused nor his defense attorney appeared.

The pre-trial judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Božić, stated at the time that the accused had been served with the summons for the hearing by the Higher Court in Belgrade on June 24, 2020, and that he had been duly notified, but did not respond, while the Prosecutor's Office announced that it would comment on further measures later.

Krunić is indicted as a member of the reserve police force for committing crimes in 1992 as part of a wide and systematic attack by the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), police members, and paramilitary formations, directed against the Bosniak and Croat civilian population in the municipality of Sanski Most.

"He is accused of leading a group of his known escorts on June 11, 1992, participating in the transport of men from detention facilities, the Sports Hall, and the 'Betonka' company to the 'Manjača' camp, supervising the convoy, when he separated six civilians, and then participated in the murder of these civilians, who were killed with automatic weapons along the local road Pavići – Hazići on the convoy's return from 'Manjača'," the Prosecutor's Office announced earlier.
