Interpol rejected the BiH Court's appeal regarding the non-issuance of an arrest warrant for Dodik

(Patria) - Interpol rejected the appeal of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the non-issuance of an arrest warrant for the president of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of RS, Nenad Stevandić.

In mid-April, the BiH Court sent an appeal to the Interpol General Secretariat in Lyon due to the rejection of the request to issue an Interpol red notice for Milorad Dodik and Nenad Stevandić. Interpol made the decision to reject the request after the BiH Court issued an order to issue an international arrest warrant for Dodik and Stevandić on March 27. At that time, the President of RS was visiting Israel.

Previously, the BiH Prosecutor's Office had sent a proposal to the BiH Court to issue an international arrest warrant for this duo due to their travel outside the territory of BiH.

Dodik then thanked the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, for their appeal against the BiH Court's request.

On February 26, the BiH Court sentenced Milorad Dodik to one year in prison and a six-year ban from holding the office of president for non-compliance with the High Representative's decisions in a first-instance verdict.

Subsequently, the ruling coalition in the National Assembly of RS adopted laws prohibiting the operation of the State Court and Prosecutor's Office, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in the territory of that entity.

The Constitutional Court of BiH declared these laws invalid, and the BiH Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Dodik and other leaders of the RS entity for the criminal offense of “attack on the constitutional order”.

After refusing to respond to the summons for questioning, the BiH Prosecutor's Office also ordered the detention of Dodik, as well as the Prime Minister of RS, Radovan Višković, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of RS, Nenad Stevandić.
