ZDK Inspection Announces Increased Controls on Fuel and Basic Food Prices

(Patria) - The Cantonal Market-Tourism-Catering Inspectorate of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs of Zenica-Doboj Canton will intensify inspection supervision in the upcoming period with the aim of consistent implementation of the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on prescribing measures for direct price control by determining the maximum margin for oil derivatives, as well as the Decision on prescribing measures for direct price control by determining the highest price levels for certain products.

The aforementioned decisions clearly define the maximum margins in wholesale and retail of oil derivatives, as well as the highest permitted price levels for 63 basic items in stores (so-called "locked prices").

The goal of these measures is to protect citizens' standards, market stability, and prevent unjustified price increases for products of special importance for everyday life.

Inspection supervision will be directed at all supervised entities engaged in the trade of the mentioned goods, and in case of identified irregularities, legally prescribed measures will be taken. Fines are foreseen for violations, namely: for legal entities in the range of 6,000 KM to 30,000 KM, for responsible persons in legal entities from 1,000 KM to 3,000 KM, and for natural persons - traders from 1,000 KM to 2,000 KM.

We call on all business entities to approach their business responsibly and conscientiously, to fully respect valid regulations and align their operations with the law. Consistent application of regulations is not only a legal obligation but also a social responsibility towards citizens and the market as a whole.
