Initiative: OHR does not want to stop Dayton violations, referendum on Srebrenica's secession from RS to follow

A point on the agenda will be proposed at the session of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly: "adoption of a decision on calling a referendum in the area of Srebrenica Municipality on secession from RS".

This initiative is a result of the decision of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS) to hold a referendum on September 25 and yesterday's decision of the RS Constitutional Court which "determined that the vital interest of Bosniaks in RS was not violated", writes the Patria News Agency.

SDA MP Sadik Ahmetović, who comes from RS, explained to NAP that they are aware that referendums are not a solution in this situation.

-But the town where genocide was committed, which has been confirmed by the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal and the verdict of the International Court of Justice, has no alternative, considering that the OHR does not want to stop the direct violation of the Dayton Agreement by the National Assembly of RS and all political actors in RS, says Ahmetović and adds:

-I will mention some things that led to this initiative, and these are the violation of the BiH Constitutional Court's decision, placing the RS Constitutional Court in the service of one nation and one party, the attitude towards Bosniaks on all life issues, from persecution, bans on learning the mother tongue to direct threats by the President of RS that Bosniaks must participate in the referendum if they want to live in RS.

Therefore, our decision to call a referendum in the Srebrenica area is a result of the attitude of the authorities from Banja Luka towards the state of BiH and Bosniaks in RS, as well as the OHR's passivity regarding the anti-Dayton actions of the RS Government. In the coming days, a larger number of Bosniak political representatives, non-governmental organizations, and associations will gather around this initiative, and a press conference will be organized to present the details of the initiative.
