Initiative for Stolac: Elections with only one candidate are characteristic of undemocratic societies

The decision of the Appellate Department of the Court of BiH rejecting our appeal against the decision of the Central Election Commission will not stop us in our efforts to achieve fair and correct elections in Stolac eventually, the Initiative for Stolac announced, reports Patria.

Just as the elections on October 2nd were organized unfairly and incorrectly with the aim of HDZ remaining in power through electoral manipulation, so the decision to remove all other serious candidates from the electoral list except for the HDZ candidate makes the renewed elections with only one serious candidate unfair and incorrect.

- We did not agree to unfair elections in October, nor do we agree to future unfair elections. The equality of all citizens of Stolac is our goal, and we continue our fight and will never reconcile with injustice. Elections with only one candidate are characteristic of undemocratic societies. Those times are over. The meaning of democratic elections is choice.

The Initiative's idea does not disappear with the removal of individual candidates. We respect the decision of the Appellate Department but demand fair and correct new elections in Stolac where all citizens will be offered a choice between several candidates.
