Index journalist Gordan Duhaček arrested over a tweet with a rhyme

ZAGREB, (Patria) - Index journalist Gordan Duhaček was found guilty at the Misdemeanor Court in Novi Zagreb. For insulting the police, i.e., for a tweet in which he wrote the acronym ACAB, he was fined 200 German marks, or 754 kuna. For the rhyme "Govna Velebita" the verdict will be announced in three days.

Duhaček was released, and he addressed the media in front of the court. He said that he was locked in a cell this morning.

The police brought in Index journalist Gordan Duhaček this morning, the portal reported. 

Duhaček was informed yesterday upon entering Croatia from Bosnia and Herzegovina that the police were looking for him. Last night, he went to the police station in Heinzelova Street on his own to arrange the details. Index reports that Duhaček was supposed to go on an official trip outside Croatia today. However, police officers met him at Zagreb airport this morning and brought him in.

Duhaček was arrested due to two posts on his Twitter account. One was posted in the summer of 2018, and the other a few weeks ago.
He is currently at the Misdemeanor Court in Novi Zagreb.

One of the two disputed tweets by Duhaček is a satirical adaptation of the song "Vilo Velebita", which he renamed to "Govna Velebita" on his Twitter.

Duhaček posted the rhyme on Twitter in August, and it was reported immediately.

"Patriots reported me to the police for the parody of 'Vila Velebita', so now an inspector is dealing with this 'case'. I just spoke with the gentleman, he was polite. That's what patriots spend the limited resources of the Croatian police on. Ah, patriotic stupidity is endless," Duhaček wrote at the time.
