Imams in 600 mosques across the UK delivered a khutbah on Srebrenica

Muslims in more than 600 mosques across the UK today listened to a khutbah on Srebrenica and offered prayers in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

The khutbah on Srebrenica, which was read in all mosques, was written by Imam Kari Muhammed Asim from the Mecca Mosque in Leeds.

- The tragic events in Srebrenica are the greatest act of genocide in Europe since the Second World War. It is shocking that all this happened in the heart of Europe. With this khutbah, we want to affirm our commitment to fighting hatred, intolerance and prejudice and to building a stronger community in the UK – the khutbah stated.

This is not the only event taking place in the UK, which leads the EU in commemorating the Srebrenica genocide, on the occasion of the 19th anniversary this year. As many as three national events and 20 local ones are being held in recent days in cities across the UK.
