Is there any salvation for the Public RTV system: If no solution is found by August 30, financial collapse follows

Report of the Commission of the Collegium of the House of Representatives on efforts to reach agreement on the request of MP Mirsad Mešić to consider the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Public Radio-Television System of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under urgent procedure, will be on the agenda of the first session of the House of Representatives after the state MPs' break, Patria writes.

The session will be held on August 30.

SDP MP in the state parliament Mirsad Mešić, before the summer break and subsequently the pre-election campaign, proposed that the Law be adopted under urgent procedure at the next session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

This would restore the method of collection via telecom operators, which was the legal solution before the problems that public broadcasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina encountered.

- Such a law, which I proposed last year, lasted for one year. It expired, and due to the irresponsibility of those who should take care of this country, we have found ourselves in a situation where the financing of the RTV system in Bosnia and Herzegovina is completely uncertain - Mešić stated for the media.

It is not news that the Public Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina is fighting for survival. The situation is completely uncertain, because the Decision on the previous collection model, via telecom operators, expired on June 30. The proposal to collect the RTV fee through electricity bills did not receive support from parliamentarians.

Perhaps due to lack of interest, or perhaps due to lack of political will, the public RTV system has been left to drift. The collapse of BHRT has already begun, and entity broadcasters will follow.
