Is Lagumdžija also in the story: Silajdžić in 2010, Izetbegović now officially inaugurates the construction of HPP Vranduk

Six years ago, the then Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haris Silajdžić, officially started the construction of HPP Vranduk. It was said at the time that the construction of the run-of-river HPP Vranduk with an installed capacity of about 20 megawatts would last about four years.

Today, Bakir Izetbegović officially started the construction at the same location for the same purpose, announcing that it is a project worth 100 million KM, which is the first capital project of Elektroprivreda BiH in the post-war period, writes the Patria News Agency.

This is one of a series of energy projects that Silajdžić presented to the public 8 years ago. Among them were thermal power plant unit 7 in Tuzla, thermal power plant unit 8 in Kakanj, Podveležje wind farm, Janjići hydropower plant, Gornja Neretva hydropower plant, small hydropower plants, and wind farms in Podveležje and Mesihovina.

However, all of them were abruptly halted in a political and media campaign led by SDA and Zlatko Lagumdžija, who was the head of SDP at the time.

Now SDA is reviving this entire package, which has been on hold for almost a decade due to various behind-the-scenes games by certain interest lobbies.

Given that Izetbegović and Lagumdžija have now become inseparable and very close, it is not surprising that the construction of everything that the former SDP president stopped eight years ago is now starting, and today, when he is politically "powerless", he is bringing everything back into play with the help of the SDA president.

At the beginning of this year, the Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić announced investment projects worth 11 billion KM in the energy sector in the FBiH Parliament.

Among them is HPP Vranduk, but also thermal power plant unit 7 in Tuzla, which was supposed to be built by the German company EnBV, one of the five largest energy companies in Europe.

SDA signed a contract with the Chinese for the construction of Unit 7, and the renowned German company was eliminated from the game.

And where are we now. Back to the beginning. Eight years irrevocably lost, during which not a single energy project was realized.

Strabag AG Austria and Končar-KET

HPP Vranduk will be built by Strabag AG Austria and Končar - KET, with a value of 112.3 million KM. According to Elektroprivreda BiH, official construction will begin tomorrow.
