Is there an agreement to unblock the BiH Parliament?

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Collegium of the House of Representatives in an expanded composition will hold a session today. In addition to the leadership of the Speaker Denis Zvizdić (SDA), and Deputy Speakers Borjana Krišto (HDZ BiH) and Nebojša Radmanović (SNSD), the session will be attended by the club presidents of all parliamentary parties in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

The agenda of the session has three items: determining the remaining proposals for the election of members of the permanent commissions of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, agreeing on the second session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and current issues. The first and only constitutive session was held in December 2018.

Following talks between delegations of the SDA and HDZ BiH, led last week by Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović, it was agreed to initiate processes that would lead to the formation of government. They are aware that due to the inaction of the BiH Parliament, numerous infrastructure projects worth up to one billion euros are also stalled.

On Friday, a meeting was held between the leadership of the House of Peoples and the Head of the EU Delegation, Johann Sattler, where ways to overcome the crisis and possibilities for compromise were discussed. Sattler asked the members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to make a maximum personal contribution to finding compromise solutions that will result in the establishment and efficient functioning of government bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
