Ilijaš: Documentation for Arab settlement under urgent procedure, locals wait for papers for years

In Ilijaš, a luxury settlement for buyers from Arab countries will soon be built. Several magnificent villas and apartments are being constructed in the area of the Mrakovo local community, just a few kilometers from the city center, Patria reports.

Local authorities claim this is a multi-million project involving domestic companies. The community will, they say, have additional economic benefits even after the settlement is built.

On the other hand, residents of Ilijaš largely support any type of new investment, but complain that local authorities are „catering“ to their future neighbors at the expense of the local population. For example, one resident of Ilijaš explains to Patria that the future settlement being built for Arabs will be connected to the city water supply. And at the zero point.

- This means that during summer water restrictions, water will first run out for the local population, and only then for the Arabs - this interlocutor says.

- That is not okay - he adds.

In Ilijaš, they complain that local authorities are resolving all administrative obstacles encountered by investors building the luxury settlement under an urgent procedure. On the other hand, some residents of Ilijaš have been waiting for years to resolve their problems of the same nature.

The head of the Ilijaš municipality is Akif Fazlić from the SDA. In the local elections held in Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 2, he will try to win another term, Patria reports.
