Ilija Jukić wins bronze for Bosnia and Herzegovina at European Junior Taekwondo Championships

(Patria) - Ilija Jukić won a bronze medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Junior Taekwondo Championships being held in Sarajevo. In the category up to 78 kilograms, Jukić won his first match against a representative of Russia with a score of 22:16. In the quarterfinals, he was better than a representative of Greece in an exciting match, 15:14, before being stopped in the semifinals by a representative of Turkey with a stoppage in the second round. 

Nevertheless, despite the defeat, Jukić won a bronze medal, the second at the European Championships for our country so far. Previously, Nadina Mehmedović won silver in the junior women's category up to 68
kilograms. The gold medal in this category was won by Vito Krpan from Croatia, while the silver went to Turkish representative Rahmet Baran Simsek. In addition to the aforementioned representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other
bronze medal was won by Dimitrije Ajduković from Serbia. 

In the junior category up to 55 kilograms, the best result was achieved by Ilia Gikmatov from Russia, who won the gold medal after defeating Spanish representative Jorge Martinez. Bronze
medals were won by Teodoro Del from Italy and Konstantinos Dimitropoulos from Greece. The category up to 59 kilograms went to Turkish representative Omer Faruk Dayioglu, who won gold by defeating Belarusian representative Maksim Bandarevich. Bronze in this category were won by Jesus Fraile from Spain and Aron Soderlund from Sweden.

The best junior woman in the category up to 44 kilograms was Alisa Angelova from Russia, silver went to Lana Komenović from Serbia, while bronze went to Ana Lopez from Spain and Hanne Waerzeggers from
Belgium. Anastasiia Kosmycheva from Russia won the gold medal in the junior women's category up to 68 kilograms. Second place went to Ainhoa Garcia from Spain, and two bronze medals were won by
Adele Williamson from Great Britain and Izabela Ranecka from the Czech Republic.

The European Championship continues tomorrow when the remaining junior men and women from our country will compete, followed by E1 and G1 tournaments.
