Ilija Cvitanović to Head HDZ 1990 List for State Parliament in October Elections

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of HDZ 1990 Ilija Cvitanović confirmed that he will be the head of the party's list for the state or federal Parliament in the upcoming October elections.

„Most likely, I will be the head of the list for the state Parliament,“ said Cvitanović in the show „Answer the People“ on Federal Television, as reported by Patria.

Speaking about the problems within Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cvitanović said that there are many issues burdening the country and its citizens, but it is unrealistic to expect the current set of politicians to make progress within the country and towards the European Union, and that he is not optimistic that positive steps will be made even during the visit of members of the BiH Presidency to Brussels, where they will discuss amendments to the Election Law in BiH with some EU leaders until Friday.

„Citizens have had enough dust thrown in their eyes, and I believe citizens will no longer allow themselves to be deceived,“ said Cvitanović. He also highlighted the excessive influence of Russia on the current government in Banja Luka, „which has extensive relations with some parties from Sarajevo and Mostar, and that is not good for BiH.“

Cvitanović said that HDZ 1990 is entering the upcoming elections with a new program „that will offer citizens a European policy, which will not be merely declarative.“

„HDZ 1990 is for the European Union,“ said Cvitanović.

Commenting on the Declaration recently adopted by the Assembly of the Livno Canton, which rejects the Hague verdict against former leaders of HR HB, Cvitanović said that citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina need agreement and compromise, while respecting everything that happened in the past, because everyone was a victim, „but there is no need to add fuel to the fire.“

„This country needs agreements and compromises, not adding fuel to the fire,“ said Cvitanović, adding that in that context, he does not agree that such a declaration should have been adopted.
