Ikanović: Victims are used as pawns in a dirty election campaign

Edin Ikanović, "Domovina" candidate for the National Assembly of RS, stated for the BH News Agency Patria that he believes it is necessary for state and entity level institutions to agree on an approach to resolving the issue of marking the sites of civilian war victims' suffering.

- Only a unified and objective approach, exclusively based on facts, can stop political provocations that abuse victims. I believe that the way the cross was placed at Zlatište and how those who placed it are treating it is an insult, first and foremost, to the civilian victims of Serb nationality in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then to Orthodox Christians whose religious symbols are once again, as during the war, being used as a justification for chauvinism and primitive barbaric provocations that reignite passions between parties that do not offer programs, but whose campaigns are reduced to reactions and provocations.

The Party for BiH, through the "Domovina" coalition, is conducting a constructive campaign in the RS entity. Instead of arguing about the cross at Zlatište or the church at Budak, we believe that the solution should be sought in standardized and adequate regulation of marking crimes, which would be exclusively organized by official institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future, Ikanović points out.
