Igor's 'Spring' for a Showdown in SNSD

(Patria) - The Facebook post by former Banja Luka mayor and once great hope of SNSD, Igor Radojičić, titled „Spremaju se pupoljci za proljeće“ could be an announcement of a split with Milorad Dodik and the founding of a new political party. Allegedly, Radojičić is waiting for February 15, the deadline by which he should decide whether to continue his political engagement in SNSD. This would require Milorad Dodik to renounce a number of corrupt and compromised cadres. The question is whether Dodik really means what he says, and he said that SNSD will not leave Igor and that Radojičić is an important member for SNSD. It wouldn't be the first time that Dodik says one thing and does another, and that he still prefers those he can step on.

It is no secret that Radojičić is dissatisfied, that he feels betrayed in the elections because the coalition he was nominated for won almost 20 percent more votes than him. In addition, Dodik quickly swept aside the party city committee in Banja Luka, which Radojičić headed, after the elections.

In truth, Radojičić himself has said nothing about this, except that he will go to the unemployment office. Everyone knows that this promising politician, who was a member of the Presidency of the Union of Socialist Youth of BiH during Yugoslavia, never digested the nationalist narrative that his post-war socialists, led by Milorad Dodik, turned to. Radojičić was and remains the fine folk of SNSD, who never exchanged the power of arguments for the power of fists and the power he had.

It is precisely this lack of insolence, without which it is difficult to parry Dodik, that cost Radojičić in previous years when he withdrew from rebellions he used to initiate. This time, Dodik should choose between Željka Cvijanović and Zoran Tegeltija on one side, and Radojičić on the other. Objectively, Radojičić is closer to the exit door of SNSD than to the position of reformer of the faltering party, because it is questionable how capable Dodik is of rationally assessing things at the moment.

If he wants to continue seriously engaging in politics, this is Radojičić's last train. Twenty years ago, even without Dodik, he affirmed himself as a political prospect through the party of Nebojša Radmanović, with whom he also moved to SNSD. Joining SNSD cannot be held against him, because at that time it really seemed that a real alternative to the dominant nationalist politics was born in RS. This time, Radojičić cannot afford a mistake, because otherwise he would remain just another untainted political invertebrate not ready for any struggle that goes beyond his own comfort.

Dodik has privatized SNSD, but there, alongside Radojičić, there are still enough people with „fine manners“ who can and should save the face of social democracy in this entity.
