Igor Gavrić new Chairman of the City Council

11:45 Igor Gavrić (SBB) is the new Chairman of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo. 15 councilors voted for him, while 13 voted for Miro Lazović (SDP). The vote was secret. The election of two deputy chairpersons follows, and then the mayor and two deputies, Patria reports. 

Twenty-eight councilors from four city municipalities (Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Stari Grad and Novi Grad) today took the solemn oath and assumed their mandates in the City Council of the City of Sarajevo. This created the conditions for the election of the City Council leadership. 

The left-wing parties that signed the Agreement have 14 councilors, while the SDA-SBB coalition secured its 11 councilors, plus, as they claim, three independents.

The city councilors will first elect the Chairman of the Council. The left-wing candidate for this position is Miro Lazović (SDP), and the coalition candidate is Igor Gavrić (SBB).

The vote is secret, so it is extremely uncertain which bloc has the necessary 15 votes.

The three independent councilors have still not declared which side they will join, although the SDA-SBB coalition counts on them being on their side. They are Mira Jurić (SDU), Bajro Biber (BOSS) and Srđan Srdić (independent).

The new councilors in the City Council are Abdulah Skaka, Adnan Talić, Almedin Miladin, Dado Stojnić, Vedran Dodik, Vibor Handžić, Srđan Simonović,  Samir Fazlić, Velija Katica, Sead Srna, Nihad Uk, Nuko Grebović, Tea Dreković, Miro Lazović, Hazim Bahtanović, Srđan Srdić, Barbara Peleš Stroil, Miroslav Živanović, Igor Gavrić, Reuf Hafizović, Snežana Omukić, Edina Gabela, Lana Velić, Sanela Fijuljanin, Enes Peštek, Bajro Biber, Toni Vukadin and Mira Jurić.
