(Patria) - The curriculum in the RS entity, which stipulates that elementary school children learn how Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić are heroes and which completely distorts historical facts, is a new anti-civilizational act by the authorities of the RS entity, the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada points out.
"This is a continuation of the aggressive Greater Serbian policy, which is now being transferred to children through school.
In addition to lessons about war criminals as heroes and the denial of genocide, there is a part where the textbook author describes the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and says 'there sit Bosniak and foreign judges who, by outvoting the Serbs in the Court, declared January 9 an unconstitutional day.'
The IGK completely rejects and condemns this anti-civilizational move, which not only denies genocide and glorifies war criminals, but also denies the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the judiciary.
The IGK has requested the Office of the High Representative to react immediately and by its decision put out of force the acts of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the RS entity.
The IGK demands that authorized proposers submit an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This appeal should challenge the new curriculum in schools in the RS entity, because it is discriminatory, contrary to the rulings of international and domestic courts, and contrary to state-level laws that are binding on lower levels of government. Additionally, it represents a violation of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the prohibition of genocide denial and glorification of war criminals.
The IGK demands that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issue a temporary measure to prevent the implementation of the curriculum until a decision on the appeal is made. Given that the application of the new curriculum in schools in the RS entity would glorify war criminals and deny genocide, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is obliged to initiate criminal proceedings ex officio against Minister Željka Stojičić.
The IGK has informed the competent authorities of Canada and organizations, institutions, and individuals fighting for human rights and freedoms in North America about this shameful attempt to revise history, deny genocide, and deny the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the political establishment of the RS entity," the Institute stated.
