IGK: Support for NUB BiH employees, closing the library is a catastrophe

(Patria) - The Institute for Genocide Research Canada has expressed support for the employees of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the suspension of services to users!

"The behavior of all state entities towards the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina is shameful. The closure of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina causes enormous damage to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its culture, and science," state IGK.

They add that the closure of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a catastrophe: for library users, for research, and for the staff. It is a catastrophe for the written culture and academic heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thus for the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for all inhabitants of the world.

"Its closure is a particularly great loss for European cultural heritage as a whole. Patriotism is also demonstrated by supporting and preserving strategic cultural, academic, and heritage institutions and establishments that recognize Bosnian-Herzegovinian significance and existence. The National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina can proudly boast of preserving the cultural and academic heritage of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina through its collections.

We call on the competent institutions to urgently initiate processes that will ensure long-term financing and resolve the legal status for the unhindered work of NUB BiH employees, and to stop the systemic collapse of state institutions that preserve our common history and identity," the IGK statement reads.
