IGK wrote to Canada's Minister of Justice: Investigate allegations of sniper tourists during the siege of Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Institute for Genocide Research Canada has asked Canada's Minister of Justice, Sean Fraser, to investigate allegations of sniper tourists during the siege of Sarajevo.

After the prosecutor's office in Milan launched an investigation following allegations that wealthy individuals from several countries, including Canada, paid for sniper killings of civilians during the siege of Sarajevo, the Institute for Genocide Research Canada (IGK) requested that Canada's Minister of Justice, Sean Fraser, examine allegations of possible involvement of Canadian citizens in the monstrous killing of civilians, especially children in Sarajevo during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The IGK wrote to the minister that Miran Župančić filmed the documentary "Sarajevo Safari", and about sniper tourists in the documentary novel "Vedran and the Firefighters" by Haris Imamović, John Jordan, an American firefighter who worked in Sarajevo during the war, also speaks. On February 21 and 22, 2007, at the Hague Tribunal in the trial of Dragomir Milošević, he spoke about wealthy people who came to Sarajevo to amuse themselves by killing civilians.

In the letter to the minister, the IGK reminds that the possible shooting of civilians, especially children, is a level of evil that Canada cannot and must not tolerate.

""Sarajevo Safari" is a moral abyss that must not remain just a news item; accountability and justice for the victims must be sought.

The siege of Sarajevo began on April 5, 1992, and lasted 1,425 days. During the brutal siege of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 11,541 citizens of Sarajevo were killed, including 1,601 children. Estimates suggest that 300 snipers stalked Sarajevans daily. Official statistics documented 255 people killed by sniper fire, including 60 children.

The Sarajevo Safari was a type of hunt for humans unimaginable to a normal mind. 'Hunt for humans' is one of the symbols of the evil that Sarajevo suffered during the longest siege in modern history," the IGK letter stated.
