IGK: Present evidence of Tomašica atrocities at Mladić trial

The Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada (IGK) welcomes the decision of the Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to reopen the evidentiary proceedings at the trial of Ratko Mladić in order to present newly discovered evidence related to the largest mass grave in Europe after World War II, Tomašica, writes the portal Kliker.info, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Due to this decision, the Prosecution will be able to include in the evidentiary record the evidence of six experts and seven witnesses on facts, as well as additional documentary evidence, which can be a step closer to the only truth and justice for the victims of aggression and genocide, legal proof of the genocide in Prijedor.

IGK once again reminds that the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia was formed precisely after the discovery of horrific crimes, incomprehensible to the healthy human mind, in the Omarska death camp.

The largest number of convictions at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia relate to the genocide in Prijedor. The lawsuit of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia and Montenegro for aggression and genocide was largely based on the testimonies of genocide victims from Prijedor.

Therefore, one of the main tasks of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia is not the dry archiving of crimes in Prijedor, but the legal and judicial recognition of crimes that, in addition to genocide, include aggression, ecocide, ethnocide, urbicide, culturocide, elitocide, and sociocide.

IGK raises its voice in defense of the rights of victims and witnesses of aggression and genocide in Prijedor, warns of the continuous violation of international legal norms by representatives of the municipal authorities, and demands that they be prosecuted and adequately punished, reports NAP.
