Two victims of Bosniak nationality missing in 1992 in the Bratunac area identified

(Patria) - Two victims of the past war have been identified at the Memorial Center in Tuzla. These are victims of Bosniak nationality who went missing in 1992 in the Bratunac area, announced the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH.

Both victims were identified by DNA method, after which the victims' families also participated in the official identification.

Thus, Paraganlija (Osman) Zina, born in 1958 in Mjehovine near Kalinovik, was identified first. She went missing in the Bratunac area in May 1992, and her remains were found 29 years later in the Joševa area, Bratunac municipality.

During the exhumation of this victim, which took place in July 2021 in Joševa, Bratunac municipality, the remains of four other victims were found, and subsequent identifications determined that they were a total of three women and two girls. They were exhumed from two mass graves and one individual grave, and it was also determined that all victims were related.

The family also identified the remains of Šehić (Ejub) Mevludin, born in 1958 in Dimnići, Srebrenica municipality. He went missing in the Bratunac area in 1992.

The remains of Šehić were handed over by the Commission for Missing Persons of Serbia to the jurisdiction of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH in July last year, and the handover was carried out based on the Protocol on Cooperation in the Search for Missing Persons between the Government of Serbia and the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as the Working Rules and Procedures for the implementation of the Protocol of the Commission for Missing Persons of Serbia and the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH.

After the identification, the families of these victims gave their consent for their burial at the collective funeral in the Veljaci Memorial Center in Bratunac.
