IDDEEA provides data to the CEC: Dead people on voter lists, registry offices and MUP departments not doing their job

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina receives data from the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of BiH (IDDEA) based on which the central voter list is formed, writes the Patria news agency.

CEC BiH spokesperson Maksida Pirić explains to Patria that registry offices and MUP departments are the first step.

- In registry offices, a person's death is reported. The registry office notifies the MUP, and the MUP then notifies IDDEA. The CEC receives data from IDDEA, so we cannot do anything based on the complaints we receive, because the law defines what falls under whose jurisdiction, Pirić states.

She says she received documentation for the deceased Mirko Plešea, and that it includes a document showing that the death was reported in the competent registry office back in 2006.

- We do not know whether the registry office sent the information to the MUP, that is, whether the MUP submitted the data to IDDEA, from which we receive it and based on which the central voter list is created, says Pirić.

Current councilor of Our Party in the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council Robert Plešea reacted yesterday because his father Mirko Plešea died in 2006, but even today, 10 years later, he is still on the voter list.

Also, a month ago, there was a reaction from Stolac, where more than 500 deceased persons are on the voter list.

It is evident that the problem lies in registry offices and MUP departments, more precisely in their mutual communication, where data is not updated and submitted to IDDEA on time.

Thus, a large number of deceased people end up on the central voter list across the whole of BiH.
