Ibro Berilo: The Politician Who Changed All Parties, Offering Heifers to Fairy Tales for Votes

Ibro Berilo is one of a kind. He served as the Mayor of Trnovo Municipality (Federation of BiH) for three terms. Many scandals are linked to his name. His office is adorned with various party jerseys. Under the motto "everything for the mayoral position," Berilo is not averse to switching parties, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the municipal elections of 2004 and 2008, he won as a candidate of the Party for BiH for the Mayor of Trnovo Municipality (in the Federation of BiH). Eight years ago, the Central Election Commission of BiH and the BiH Prosecutor's Office investigated a report from the SDA regarding whether Berilo had bought votes with donated heifers. And of course, like all similar investigations, this one also ended without results.

The undisputed ruler of Trnovo then tried to join the SDA until 2012, and he also hovered around the SBB.

And then he settled in the SDP BiH. This party nominated him again for mayor in the elections four years ago, and he won again.

Although he was still a member of the Main Board of SDP BiH, this did not prevent Berilo from moving to the Democratic Front in 2014. When Željko Komšić's party left the government, he returned to the SDA.

This party, with its coalition partner SBB, nominated him for mayor in the upcoming elections.

And so, for over a decade, Ibro Berilo has been deceiving voters and misleading them with his party transfers and fairy tales about various projects and investments in their Municipality.

Anyone who has visited Bjelašnica could see Berilo's ability to turn this once Olympic beauty into a mountain eyesore. The rest of the municipality is not in any better condition. For Berilo, the eternal ruler, it is important to stay in his chair, while infrastructure, solving citizens' life problems, and everything else for which he holds the mayoral office are secondary matters to him.

From heifers once, the Mayor of Trnovo has now progressed to the Buroj Ozone project, "the largest tourist city in the Balkans."

Everything about this project has been suspicious from the very beginning. A 99-year concession agreement was signed, granting a UAE company the right to build. Cantonal and federal concession laws do not recognize a 99-year term, but a maximum of 50 years for granting specific land under concession.

Berilo refers to the Law on Real Rights. He has never allowed the contract to be publicly disclosed, yet he persistently claims that everything is transparent.

The laying of the foundation stone and construction were initially supposed to begin in April, then in June of this year. However, the municipality of Trnovo is still waiting for the tourist city, better known as Buroj Ozone.

After that, information was given that work would start on July 5, and then everything was postponed to September 19 without explanation.

Just like eight years ago with the heifers that were useful for collecting votes, Berilo will now use fairy tales about the Buroj Ozone complex and messages that no one in Trnovo will be unemployed to gain votes from confused voters who can no longer keep track of which party he belongs to, nor what promises he has made.

There have been other political wanderers from party to party, but Ibro Berilo is definitely a record holder because he does it at hockey speed. He is also a record holder for unfulfilled promises.
