Although no recycling center is planned in the Centar Municipality, RAD and Mandić are building one near a school and hospital!

(Patria) - A recycling yard is under construction in the Centar Municipality, only fifty meters from the KCUS Pediatric Clinic and thirty meters from a school.

Citizens are upset because KJKP Rad has neither requested nor obtained construction permits.

They would not be able to obtain a permit anyway, as this recycling yard is not foreseen in any spatial planning document.

The Centar Municipality is participating in the project "Efficient Waste Management System in Sarajevo Canton" implemented by the international organization "People in Need" together with partners KJKP "RAD" and "Dekonta", and financed by the Government of the Czech Republic.

The Centar Municipality states that they are thus fulfilling an obligation prescribed for municipalities in Sarajevo Canton by the Elaborate on the locations of recycling yards, niches, and green islands, which the Government of Sarajevo Canton approved by its decision.

They emphasize that a recycling yard is not a landfill, but a strictly supervised, fenced area intended for separate collection and temporary storage of small quantities of specific types of waste.

However, the Elaborate was created in 2019, and no recycling center/yard was planned anywhere in the territory of the Centar Municipality. At that time, the relevant minister was Srđan Mandić, the current mayor of the Centar Municipality, for whom a recall has been initiated.



At the same time, the local community did not have the opportunity to express its opinion on recycling 50 meters from the hospital through a public debate.
