The Independent Board of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose president is Sead Selman, and which is in a conflict of interest under the new Law on Internal Affairs of the FBiH, appointed Dragan Lukač as director of the Federal Police Administration, a story that was current last year, writes the Patria news agency.
The mandate of the members of the Independent Board, some of whom have been rewarded, such as Nezir Pivić (appointed as assistant minister of justice), has expired, and the Parliament of the FBiH is working urgently on appointing new members.
Although the deadline for this procedure has long passed, we learn that the Commission for Elections and Appointments of the PFBiH has already conducted interviews with 36 candidates to fill the Independent Board of the PFBiH.
We recall that the previous Independent Board, despite the recommendation of the Security Commission of the Parliament of the FBiH that the selection of the FUP director should have been conducted under the new Law on Internal Affairs and the proposal of the FBiH Government to cancel the competition and conduct it under the new law, ignored this and had previously announced the appointment of Lukač as FUP director.
Incidentally, Lukač met the conditions for retirement, but that did not prevent the members of the Independent Board from appointing him anyway. Whether the future Independent Board of the PFBiH will succeed in resolving this burning issue remains to be seen.
