Although Marjanović chose his successor in the KS Assembly, the CEC awarded the mandate to Adna Bešić: Will she renounce it in favor of Tarik Jažić?

(Patria) - The Central Election Commission of BiH at today's session made a decision to revoke the mandate of assembly member Damir Marjanović in the KS Assembly, after he resigned a few days ago.

As confirmed to Patria by the CEC, the mandate was awarded to the next qualified candidate from the list For New Generations, Adna Bešić.

However, Marjanović stated last week that Tarik Jažić would succeed him in the KS Assembly, implying that Bešić would renounce the mandate.

Given that the CEC awarded the mandate to her today, Bešić's statement on accepting or rejecting the mandate is expected in the coming days.

Adna Bešić is actually Adna Mesihović, the suspended Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS in the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

She was arrested in April this year as part of the Envelope operation and spent two months in custody. In June, her custody was lifted, and she was given a restraining order not to contact witnesses. Her assistant minister, Dženita Viteškić, was arrested with her but was immediately released with a restraining order not to contact witnesses. Ibrahim Obhođaš was also arrested in the same operation, and after his custody was lifted, no restraining orders were issued against him.

Given that Marjanović has already announced Jažić's entry into the KS Assembly, this means that Adna Mesihović will renounce the mandate in his favor, although there is a possibility that the Prime Minister of KS, Nihad Uk, will propose her dismissal from the position of minister. He asked the Commission for Election and Appointment to extend her suspension, claiming that she cannot communicate with about ten employees in the Ministry, which she denied.

Patria sought a comment from Adna Mesihović on whether she would accept the mandate in the KS Assembly, but she did not respond to our inquiry.

Regarding the awarding of the mandate to a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, Club of Croats, since Marjanović was also a delegate in that club, the CEC stated that they have not yet received the necessary materials to award the mandate.
