The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) website published an article about participants of the World Athletics Championships from August 22 to 30, with athlete Amel Tuka representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
As stated in the article, Tuka is the biggest discovery of this season, and currently holds the world record in the 800 meters, which he ran in 1:42.51 at the Diamond League in Monaco.
Tuka, who works with Italian coach Gianni Ghidini, has strong chances to win his first medal at the World Championships, it is stated.
Main competitors mentioned are Nijel Amos of Botswana, whom Tuka overtook just before the finish line in Monaco, and Kenya's David Rudisha, who has not yet returned to full form since his injury in 2013.
The qualifying heats for the 800 meters are scheduled for the first day of competition on August 22, the semifinals a day later, and the final race is on August 25 at 14:55 local time.
The race will be broadcast on FACE TV.
