Even the sky weeps: Kakanj bids farewell to Muhamed, Nermin and Sejad today, and to Mijo tomorrow

A commemoration for the miners killed in the accident at the Begići-Bištrani pit of the Kakanj Brown Coal Mine will be held today at the Kakanj Cultural Centre, starting at 11:30 AM, reports the Patria news agency.

- At 1:30 PM, a joint funeral prayer for the deceased miners Muhamed Sarač, Nermin Mušija and Sejad Gađun will be held at the Town Mosque in Kakanj. The burial will take place at the local cemeteries in Ričica, Veliki Trnovci and Gornji Lučani.

The funeral of the deceased miner Mijo Stojčić, at the request of the family due to relatives arriving from abroad, will be held tomorrow, 16 October, in Ratanj. Transport is provided at 11 AM from the Haljinići facility, according to a notice sent to the Kakanj Municipality from the Kakanj Brown Coal Mine.

By decision of the Mayor of Kakanj, Nermin Mandra, days of mourning in this municipality are 14 and 15 October.

Four miners were killed and two injured in the accident that occurred on Tuesday, 13 October, an hour after midnight, at the Kakanj Brown Coal Mine.

The accident occurred at the Begići-Bištrani pit due to the collapse of a wooden support, when the upper arch of the mining chambers collapsed onto 28 miners who were 105 metres below the surface.

Those killed were Muhamed Sarač (1968), Nermin Mušija (1977), Mijo Stojičić (1976) and Sejad Gađun (1971).
