SARAJEVO, (Patria) - There are 2,200 migrants in the Ušivak and Blažuj migrant camps who have medical teams, and for now, there are no suspected coronavirus cases among the migrants.
Dražen Rozić, coordinator for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), told the News Agency Patria that they are educating migrants about the coronavirus and distributing informational leaflets. The IOM, together with the Danish Refugee Council, has implemented measures for life in the camps.
"They are also aware of the dangers of the virus. No one among them is in self-isolation; we have 12 migrants in quarantine due to scabies," Rozić said, adding that they are in constant contact with the Institute for Public Health and other relevant institutions.
When asked if migrants are forbidden to leave the camps, Rozić explained that there is no such order, but the Government of Sarajevo Canton has banned new migrants from entering the camps.
"Those already registered can leave and enter, and we no longer have the capacity for new migrants," Rozić said.
There are 1,417 migrants in the camp in Blažuj, and 788 in Ušivak.
Rozić added that leaving the migrant camps in the Una-Sana Canton area is also prohibited.
