I Komšić also at Markale today: 27 years ago, the world fell silent before the horrors

(Patria) - On the occasion of marking the Day of Remembrance for all killed citizens of Sarajevo in the period 1992-1995 and the 27th anniversary of the suffering of our fellow citizens at the Markale market, on Friday, February 5, organized by the Sarajevo Canton, a joint commemorative session of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, the Sarajevo City Council, and municipal councils from the area of the Sarajevo Canton will be held.

The commemorative session will be held at the National Theatre, announced by the Protocol and Press Service of the Sarajevo Canton.

Also, the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, will lay flowers at the memorial at the Markale market in Sarajevo on the occasion of marking the Day of Remembrance.

In accordance with the current epidemiological measures, only the chairs of the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton and the City Council, the mayor, the chairs of municipal councils and mayors of municipalities in the area of the Sarajevo Canton, and representatives of the Government and Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton have been invited to the session.

After the session, it is planned that all participants lay flowers at the memorial at the Markale market, where a special program is scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM.

On that day, 27 years ago, a 120 mm mortar shell was fired from aggressor positions in the area of Mrkovići, killing 68 of our fellow citizens and wounding 142 others, some seriously and some lightly.
