Congestion and Delays Expected Again Today from Mostar to Sarajevo

(Patria) - Based on previous experience, drivers traveling today (03.05.) from the south towards the interior of the country are warned of significant congestion and possible delays on the M-17 main road, on the Mostar-Sarajevo route. Advice for avoidance

As one of the alternative routes, the use of the section: Kupres-Bugojno-Rostovo-Vitez-Sarajevo is advised, which has proven to be less congested in practice during days of increased traffic.

Drivers are advised to plan their departure early in the morning, check road conditions via BIHAMK reports and cameras available on the bihamk.ba website, and be prepared for a longer drive on the alternative route, but with a lower risk of complete standstills.

Long vehicle queues are present at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Hadžin Potok, Kostajnica, Kozarska Dubica, Gradina, Gradiška, Novi Grad and Brod. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles are currently not waiting longer than 30 minutes.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for entering and leaving European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer waiting times at border crossings are possible.

Road repair works are underway on the A-1 motorway section Kakanj-Lašva, due to which the left side of the motorway is closed for a length of 3 km, and vehicles are directed in two-way traffic on the opposite side of the motorway.

On the A-1 motorway sections Sarajevo north-Podlugovi and Sarajevo west-Lepenica, due to ongoing works, traffic is redirected to the passing lane.

Movement of all vehicles over the bridge on the Dobro Polje-Miljevina main road is prohibited. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons can use roads via Grebak or Kalinovik (there is 19 km of gravel road), while freight vehicles must travel via Rogatica and Ustiprača.

On the Tuzla-Bijeljina main road (Banj Brdo), vehicles up to 3.5 tons travel in one lane, alternately, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons remains suspended.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons remains suspended.

On the M-5 main road, border crossing Izačić-Bihać, reconstruction works are being carried out on the bridge over the Mrižnica stream. Vehicles are redirected to a temporary bypass near the works, with alternating passage.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is prohibited for all freight vehicles.
